Mar 31, 2014 Is there anyway to find out who the original owner of our mosin nagant rifle was. Maybe tracking it down using the serial number. Whether it be a regular.

No sportsters. Please read the rules at the top of each forum. The Russians and the Soviets were always chronically short of firearms. You can almost be assured that your weapon served in 'The Great Patriotic War' as the Soviets referred to it, or WWII to us in the US. The shortage was so severe in WWI and WWII that many Russian soldiers and their allies went to war without any firearm at all. Your rifle was probably refurbed after WWII to correct wear and damage that occured in training and battle. Welcome Aboard! Treasure those pieces of history, and they may just speak to you! I find they talk best at the range.

As the others mention, no real database, and still alot of things to learn in reguards to marks and such, which is why many of us hang out here trading info, pics, etc. Sort of uncharted territory in milsurps, and I doubt that much info will be coming from the former Soviet Union.
